Is Your Yard Ready for a Water Cube?

Thursday August 14, 2008
border-Let the competition begin: who will be the first in your neighborhood to build a scaled-down version of the Beijing Water Cube we've been ogling the past week? The blue glow at night might keep you awake, but the pool parties could be epic. When your Cube has been built, I expect to be on the guest list. Me, Paris, LC, Miley, the Kardashians, and all the celebrities who've had twins in the past year. Better start excavation soon.

Until you break ground, however, enjoy this photo gallery of the the National Aquatic Center -- aka Beijing Water Cube -- from Woody Franklin, About.com's Guide to Diving.

I loved watching the aquatic events in the Cube. It is a gorgeous venue. The Chinese got quite a few things right. But I don’t think a Cube in my backyard would get past the neighborhood association!
