While temperatures are heating up in Southern California (actually, the month of August has been like a slow burn), for many, Labor Day weekend signals the close of swimming pool season. At least, for public or municipal pools.
Children, pets and some adults still need to cool off, and one of the best and cheapest ways is sitting in a splasher or kiddie pool. Which got me to wondering about the history of kiddie pools. Most of us have a photo or two of ourselves or a relative in a kiddie pool, smiling or staring at the camera while sitting next to a brother or sister in a stretched-out swimsuit.
