Happy Halloween! While the East Coast is trying to clean up after the Hurricane Sandy disaster, people in the dryer parts of the United States and other regions that celebrate the holiday will be handing out candy and accompanying children as they trick-or-treat. Wednesday has to be the worst day of the week upon which for October 31st to fall, unless you have the next couples days off for parent-teacher conferences, fall recess, apple harvest day, Dia de las Muertos, or will be playing hooky.

We won't be doing that at our house. My daughter has an English test tomorrow. Guess the teacher forgot it was a holiday. Or maybe he didn't (cue evil laughter).
I'm so glad October will be over. And I'll be really happy when the campaigning is done with by this time next week. I -- and probably more than half of those who might be reading this -- could use a vacation at a resort in the next couple weeks (or anytime, because who's being picky?). Preferably someplace with a really big pool. I mean, a huge, gigantic, Guinness World Record-breaker for Largest Pool -type pool. Like a vacation, maybe at, say, the San Alfonso del Mar in Chile.
Back to reality. Be safe, smile when you answer the door for trick-or-treaters, and give them an extra piece of candy: it's been a tough month for lots of folks.
