Where the Surf Meets the Sand

Wouldn't it be great if there really was a neighborhood with pint-sized houses on a secluded little beach, where kids could be free to build sandcastles and surf to their hearts' content? Sounds like a kind of nirvana for adults, too. These two houses are among the eight on exhibit at Newport Fashion Island in Newport Beach, California, until Oct. 11, 2008. The one on the left, the Americana Del Mar, is a Corona del Mar-style California cottage and will be available for auction on Oct. 11. To its right is Wahoo's Xtreme Sports Shack, another beach house that will be given to the lucky winner of a raffle that is being held throughout the exhibit.
