The perfect playhouse is really left up to the imagination of the kid-sized home's builder and the child him or herself. Skill, the ability to follow directions, and patience help too. The elaborate and amazing playhouses built for Project Playhouse's 19th annual exhibit at the Irvine Spectrum Center in Orange County, California, aren't typical. They're built as a fundraiser for HomeAid, a homeless and home-assistance nonprofit.
This year, seven playhouse building teams donated their time, materials and resources to create the playhouses. They range from a firehouse complete with firetruck and pole; to a modern hangout for 'tweens; to an eco-friendly, LEED-certified ocean adventure lab with a wave tank.
HomeAid Orange County is the founding chapter of a national non-profit organization with a mission of building and maintaining dignified housing for the homeless. To date, HomeAid has completed 47 housing developments for the homeless. Check out the playhouse pictures and get inspired.
