You can have these pines and firs growing all year in one of your favorite large pots, if you like. In October or Novemeber, plant bright white Cyclamen or other winter-blooming white, red or rose ornamental, along with a fountain or spray-shaped plant or ornamental grass like Liriope, Blue Fescue (Festuca Glauca), or dwarf Fountain Grass (Pennisetum) or a dwarf Carex. During the holidays, add ornaments, garlands, bows, or natural adornments like pinecones and dried flowers, then remove them after New Year's.
