How to Make a Fall Wreath

This colorful do-it-yourself autumn wreath will take you from the first days of September to Halloween and through Thanksgiving, with a few modifications along the way. Colorful craft-store leaves, grasses and berries are attached by florist's wire, then wrapped around a twisted grapevine wreath. To get good, dense coverage, make sure you have plenty of leaves, flowers and other faux fall foliage on hand so the project can be completed in under two hours.

Things get subtly odd or spooky closer to Halloween when faux crows -- or Edgar Allen Poe's black ravens -- are added to the wreath. Just a few will do; less is more, unless you're aiming for a wreath worthy of Hitchcock's The Birds
