Check for Uniformity: Time for a Faux-Leaf Run?

Make sure you have plenty of fake leaves, flowers and grasses for your wreath-making project.

As you may have noticed in the previous step during which we checked to make sure the leaf and flower stems were positioned in the same direction, parts of the rattan wreath form were showing. Some wreath makers like the natural look of a grapevine wreath showing through -- it's a matter of personal taste, style of house, decor, etc.

I felt my wreath needed more foliage and looked unfinished or slightly naked without, so it was time for a faux-leaf run. As mentioned earlier, I stopped by the Dollar Tree a few weeks after buying my original supplies in early September, and they were basically sold out. I was in luck during a quick visit to my local Michael's (an arts and crafts retailer) -- fall faux foliage was more than half off. It was there that I picked up the faux grass, which I thought would look nice on the outer edges of my fall wreath. About five more bunches of foliage, and I was ready to tackle the project again.

Lesson learned: Buy more rather than fewer wreath decorations, especially at stores that carry seasonal items on a limited basis. You can always return what's left over, or use it for another project.
