The Bottom Line

During the past couple of years, you may have been hearing more about LED lighting technology. Like many things, as interest and demand increase, so does production, making prices continue to go down.

If you want to make-over your holiday display, start with a decoration like this Philips' Snowman. Place it near your front door or on your porch, patio or balcony. What I like about this holiday character is that he's lightweight, can be easily repacked into its box (or even a smaller one), and that his features have character -- no simple feat for something made of wire. I especially like his spring-like "carrot" nose.

Pros

  • Uses LED lighting technology
  • Easy to assemble
  • "Nests" together for compact storage
  • Has a carrot nose and a cute face

Cons

  • Snow not included
  • No corncob pipe
  • Eyes aren't made of coal

Description

  • Height: Approximately 20"
  • Light Bulb Type: LED
  • No tools needed to assemble
  • Includes ground stakes
  • Can be secured to the ground with stakes, which are included
  • Lightweight

Guide Review - Philips LED White Wire Snowman Outdoor Holiday Decoration

Frosty the LED Snowman
Was a jolly, happy soul
With a wire frame
And a carrot nose
And an eco-friendly goal
.

Let's look at it this way -- the glaciers in your yard won't be melting with this green-minded snowman on the scene. That's because his outer glow is lit by LED (light emitting diode) technology. LEDs stay cooler than the older incandescents, making them a safer choice. They also save energy, which means you'll be saving money. If you haven't tried LED lights, one good-sized decoration like Philips' White Wire Snowman would be a great introduction into the new light technology.
