Here's a clever idea, seen at the L.A. Garden Show in 2009: a rusted metal bowl becomes the perfect container for an assortment of delectable succulents. The dark-purple floral-like succulents on the far right are Sempervivum, the light-green spreader and filler seen throughout is Sedum 'Angelina,' and other succulents in shades of chartreuse (light yellow-green) and purple are mixed in.
This easy-care container would look striking on the patio, by the pool or any other place in your landscape.
