The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, in cooperation with Target Stores, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota, is recalling sets of diving sticks swimming pool toys. If the weighted dive sticks remain in an upright position in the water, they could pose an impalement hazard to young children playing with them in swimming pools. CPSC banned pre-weighted dive sticks in 2001.

Approximately 365,000 of the dive stick sets were sold throughout the U.S. at Target stores from April 2008 through August 2008 for about $1. No injuries or incidents have been reported.

The, pool toys, called "Dive Sticks," "Dive Toys," or "Diving Game," were sold in a bundle of three in various colors, including light blue, aqua-green, fluorescent yellow, royal blue and red. The product was manufactured in China.

Consumers should take the diving sticks immediately out of the reach of young children, and return the toys to any Target store for a full refund.

For more information, contact Target at (800) 440-0680 between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. CT Monday through Friday or visit the firm’s website at www.target.com.
