Bellagio Botanical Display: Beauty, Whimsy & All That Jazz

No Exotic Dancers, 'Just' Breathtaking Fall Flowers, Pumpkins & Smiling Trees

By , About.com Guide

The Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Garden in Las Vegas hosts spectacular displays revolving around seasons and holidays and is open 365 a year. Take a look at the Bellagio's autumn Harvest Show, on display through the weekend after Thanksgiving each year.

Much like Vegas itself, it's often hard to discern what's real and what's not in the Bellagio's Harvest Show. The conservatory's 140 horticulturists have created a magical landscape with animated trees, Venus flytraps and woodland sprites set among bridges, ponds, gazebos and water features. Beautiful combinations of hybrid and giant pumpkins, squash and gourds are intermixed with dazzling fall flowers and plants, like cattails, sweet-potato vine, Sparks of Bittersweet and chrysanthemums.

While it's going to be hard to copy the theatrical Vegas-style design techniques of the conservatory's 140 horticulturists, you might grab an idea here and there. If nothing else, the pictures are fun to look at. Maybe next year, right?
