It's time to get creative and resourceful. Look around the house for red, white and blue linens, tableware, vases and other accessories or decor. If you have solid-color red tablecloths or other table linens from Christmas, bring them out for the 4th. The same goes with basic white tablecloths and napkins, which can get dressed up with red and blue accents.
Try mixing red, white and blue fabrics that have geometrics, stripes, red-and-white checks, paisleys or bandana prints for a festive presentation. Let your children and their friends paint pots in patriotic motifs. Add small plants with, red, white and blue flowers. Shop at discount, fabric, craft and party stores for low-priced patriotic-themed materials and decorations. Add tealights in clear or red-glass candleholders. It's all about fun!
