Creepy Monkey Under Glass

Take an old toy like this cymbal-crashing monkey, put it under a glass dome, and you've got an odd and eerie Halloween display. Choose items carefully: a Care Bear under glass would not have the same unusual, somewhat surreal effect as a vintage wind-up monkey. If you or your co-decorators don't get it, probably nobody else will either. Old toys, preferably not a recognizable or familiar brand or character, have a more time-worn, abandoned look to them than something made of shiny new plastic. Vintage items like toys and statues would look appropriately mysterious carefully arranged on a front porch or entryway. Obviously, don't display anything of great value. You can bring out these items when you are expecting party guests or trick-or-treaters and can keep an eye on the decorations.
