Your boastful neighbor who never fails remind everyone he owns a really big swimming pool has been upstaged. The world's largest swimming pool is the San Alfonso del Mar seawater pool in Algarrobo, Chile. It is 3,324 feet long (1,013 meters) and spans 19.77 acres. The resort swimming pool was completed in December 2006. It holds the Guinness World Record as the world's largest crystalline water pool.

That is, for now. Crystal Lagoons, the company that creates extremely large human-made outdoor water environments, is currently at work on Sharm El Sheikh Crystal Lagoon in Egypt. When completed, it will be the world's largest swimming pool.

To put it in perspective, the large pools with which many of us are more familiar are Olympic-size swimming pools. You know -- the pools that Olympic athletes compete in during various swimming and diving competitions during the Summer Games. (Remember the 2012 London Olympics?)
